The 2019 joint summer convention with the SC Seedsmen’s Association will be held July 28 - 31, 2019 at the Sonesta Resort, Hilton Head, SC.
An informative, enjoyable, and relaxing convention is being planned for the entire family. See additional information and agenda below.


We hope that you will be able to attend the 2019 convention. Unfortunately, meeting costs like all other costs have increased this year and we need your help more than ever to keep registration costs for attendees reasonable. As a convention contributor, your firm will receive sponsorship credit in the convention program, receive recognition at the sponsored events, and be recognized in the SC Seedsmen’s Association’s newsletter and on the SCFAA’s and SC Seedsmen’s Association’s websites.

July 28 - 31 -Sonesta Resort, Hilton Head, SC
The 2019 convention will be held July 28 - 31 (Sunday - Wednesday) at theSonesta Resort, Hilton Head.   An informative, enjoyable, and relaxing convention is being planned for the whole family. 
As in the past we will have our normal convention program beginning with a social Sunday evening. We will have aTechnology Workshop-"Producing & Marketing Hemp” Monday July 29th from 12 pm – 4 pm.  Other Monday events include registration from 2 – 5 pm, the Clemson Round Table Discussion at 4 pm and a social and banquet on Monday evening.  Tuesday morning’s business meeting from 7:30 – 11:30 am will be followed by a golf outing on Tuesday afternoon and a social, seafood dinner and entertainment on Tuesday evening.

Meeting Registration:  The deadline for advanced registration is July 17, 2019.  After July 17, attendees are subject to late registration fees.  On-site registration will be on Monday, July 29, 2 – 5 p.m. and from 8 – 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30.  Please email or call/text

Technology Workshop:  We are looking forward to our Technology Workshop on Monday, July 29.  This is a unique opportunity for retailers, certified crop advisors, crop consultants, farmers and extension workers to gain valuable information on new technologies and new research. This year our focus will be on “Producing and Marketing Hemp”. The program will start at 12 pm and conclude by 4.   
12 p.m. - David Dewitt, Clemson Extension Service will moderate.
12:15 - Derek Underwood, SCDA. “The Legal Requirements for Producing, Processing and Marketing Hemp in SC”. 
1:00 - Angela Post, Extension Specialist, Crops & Soils Department, NC State University. “Hemp Research and Production Practices”.
2:00 - Joshua Hartsel, Blue Sky Processing.  “Hemp Extraction, Processing and Pest Control”.
3:00 – Round Table Discussion
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear this valuable information and earn up to 3.5 CCA re-certification credits. The workshop registration for persons attending the convention will be $20.  If you are not registered for the convention the cost will be $40.00.

Research Roundtable:  Clemson University will hold a roundtable discussion on agricultural research at Clemson and other important issues at 4 p.m. on Monday July 29.  All attendees are invited to attend this informative session.

Tuesday Breakfast and Business Program:  Speakers for Tuesday morning include: 2018 Sunbelt/Swisher Sweet Southeastern Farmer of the year Kevin Yon, Ridge Spring, SC and Dr. Milt Lowder, CEO of Synergy Group, Greenville, SC.  Dr. Lowder also serves as the Sport Psychologist for Clemson University Athletic teams and will talk on “Maximizing Your Success”.

Golf Tournament: 
A captain’s choice tournament will be held on Tuesday afternoon.  The greens and cart fees will be paid by those participating.  The Golf Chairman will make the pairings.  Please indicate on the registration form members of your family planning to play golf and include their handicap.

Attire:  The appropriate dress will be business casual (sport shirts/knit shirts and slacks for the men, and dress shorts/sun dresses for the ladies).
