Formed in 1988

The South Carolina fertilizer and AgriChemical Association (SCFAA) was formed in 1988 with the merging of the Pesticide Association of SC and the SC Plant Food Educational Society.  The SCFAA is committed to the continued improvement of agriculture and to food production and environmental protection.

SCFAA members also work with researchers, government agencies, regulatory officials, legislators and other regional and national organizations to promote the environmentally sound use of plant nutrients, crop protection and biotechnology products by farmers.

Monitors legislation and regulations

The SCFAA also monitors legislation and regulations relating to the introduction and safe use of new and old products.  SCFAA members visit Congressional members in Washington DC at least once a year and state legislators to make their voices heard.  The SCFAA encourages the creation of procedures and regulations that keep the environment safe, protect the interests of our industry and provide our state, nation and world with an abundant, safe and affordable supply of food and fiber.

Supports Education

The SCFAA supports (or promotes) education, knowledge transfer, training and professional networking that enhances research, improves the safe and economical use of crop protection, seed and nutrient products, and advocates for regulatory initiatives and progressive farm policies impacting our industry.

Scholarships

To promote the education of our future agricultural leaders, the SCFAA awards the Ernie Hinson and Larry Smith scholarships annually to students majoring in agriculture attending Clemson University and other state colleges.  The Hilton Rogers FFA scholarship is also awarded annually to a worthy FFA high school student majoring in agriculture at Clemson University.
